Monitoring can be done by two methods. Our system uses the data side of your cell phone to text message you. Even if you are out of range for voice communication, the text message will get through. The other way is to use a central station with a person responding to the alarm. They will be phoning the list of people you have stipulated on a call list, very similar to the way home security monitoring works.

Monitoring your alarm system is important for several other reasons. The obvious purpose is prompt notification in the event of theft. Now consider these reasons for notification.

Should your bilge pump fail due to a dead battery or simply be overwhelmed, the time you have to fix the problem is measured in minutes. The list you provide for notification should include someone with quick access to your craft, as in your dock master.

Another event warranting quick notification is simple intrusion. You go to your boat on your day off and find that somebody had a pizza and beer party. Nothing is stolen and nothing is broken, but you have a two hour cleanup to start your day!

If your boat yard or your kids have a set of keys, the system can notify you when the alarm is turned on or off.

GPS equipped systems can be designed to automatically send locations every 2 or 4 hours.
